DVS vet receives Melton Award at BSAVA Congress

Dr Clive Elwood, [pictured right] head of medicine at Davies Veterinary Specialists (DVS), was presented with the Melton Award at this year's BSAVA Congress by Andrew Doyle, veterinary sales director of Royal Canin.

 

 
Royal Canin presents the BSAVA Melton award, which takes the form of a scroll, annually, for meritorious contributions by veterinary surgeons to small animal veterinary practice.

 
Clive Elwood, MA VetMB MSc PhD CertSAC DipACVIM DipECVIM-CA MRCVS, was the first person trained outside of the USA to achieve Diplomate status of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and has been head of medicine at Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hertfordshire for the past 11 years.

  
As well as helping establish a successful referral service in medicine and cardiology, Clive has lectured and published widely. Since 2004 he has been an associate editor of the Journal of Small Animal Practice and is also a member of the Editorial Panel of the BSAVA Small Animal Formulary.

 
Clive was the founding chairman of the Small Animal Medicine Society and in 2007 was elected to the Board of Management of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Companion Animals).
