Different perspectives on swine flu
The arrival of so-called ‘swine flu' on the world scene has brought out the best and the worst in news reporting, as the media scramble for column inches and air-time. Vetpulse.tv would like to commend three websites that offer different perspectives on the unfolding scenario.
A news report by Animal Pharm, entitled, 'Mexico pig farm not the source of swine influenza?' suggests that a Mexican pig farm under suspicion is probably not the ‘ground zero' of infection as had first been thought; although images taken of the Granjas Carroll de Mexico premises do suggest that aspects of husbandry and welfare might not be all that they should be.
For those with an historical bent, there is more than a hint of déjà vu in a Walter Kronkite radio documentary that harks back to the Asian Flu pandemic of 1957.
And for the really serious-minded, there is an excellent exposition on the business implications of pandemic infections that has been compiled by Peter Osborn, an entrepreneur and adviser to the boards and shareholders of businesses undergoing change.
